Kebijakan Privasi

Terakhir diperbarui: 6 Oktober 2026

Ringkasnya:

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

In short:

  • FortiBar runs no server and sends no data to us.
  • The pre-shared key and password are stored in your own macOS Keychain; the FortiToken code is never stored.
  • The only network traffic the app creates is the IPsec connection to the FortiGate gateway you entered yourself and an update check against GitHub (which you can turn off in Settings).
  • No account, no ads, and no analytics.

1. Who we are

FortiBar (the "app") is developed by Ahmad Arif, an independent developer in Indonesia ("we"). Privacy questions can be sent to [email protected].

2. Data you enter

The app keeps the following on your device, and nowhere else:

3. How secrets are used

When connecting, the app sends secrets to the helper over a local socket that only your account can use. The helper loads them into strongSwan over its control socket without writing them to disk, and drops the XAUTH secret (password + code) as soon as the handshake finishes. The helper's logs mask secrets.

4. The helper

The helper is a LaunchDaemon that runs as root and is installed once with administrator approval. Its socket is usable only by the account that installed it, and it accepts only status, connect and disconnect with validated parameters; it never runs commands supplied by a caller. The helper can be removed at any time from Settings.

5. Network traffic

The app opens an IPsec connection to the FortiGate gateway you specify, and traffic to the subnets you list goes through that tunnel. The gateway's operator can see your connection metadata under their own policies, which is outside our control. In addition, the app asks the FortiBar repository's GitHub Releases API (api.github.com) whether a new version exists, at launch and every 12 hours, or when you click Check for updates. The request carries only the app name and version, not your data, and can be turned off under Settings → General. GitHub may log your IP address under its own policies. When you click Install on an update, the app runs Homebrew (brew) on your device to download the new version; Homebrew then contacts GitHub and its own infrastructure under their policies, outside our control. The app contacts no other server. Installing or updating via Homebrew or GitHub means communication with their infrastructure.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any data. The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs.

7. Deleting your data

Delete profiles and their credentials from Settings, then remove the helper with Settings → System → Remove helper. To uninstall the app entirely: brew uninstall --cask --zap fortibar. No other data is stored outside your device to delete.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date.
